My name is Lena and this is how I got into fitness. Before you continue, you need to know one thing.
And that is that I love to eat. It's kind of similar to the love you feel when you hold your newborn child in your arms for the first time. Well, maybe not that serious, but it falls under the same category.
I was raised in a family that was ultimately food lovers. I was raised with incredible cooks who loved to cook any type of cuisine, be it Italian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Indian, Caribbean.
We ate. A LOT. There was no such thing as "portions". You name it and I swear to you, we've made it (and shamelessly devoured it).
God, life was so simple. And delicious. You would never really think that food would be the enemy until you start your freshman year of high school.
Yes, my body went through some major changes during the summer of '08. I was basically three times larger than your average freshman.
But believe it or not, it was not the bullying, the pushing, and the name calling, etc. that prompted me to start my fitness journey. It was the words of a loving and concerned parent.
There is not a day that goes by where I don't think about my father’s constant encouragement that led me the down the path of self discovery. My father was and still is undeniably the reason I became who I am today. Even though he was not in the fittest state himself, he made sure his children were as active as possible. From getting us our first gym memberships to signing us up for Sunday soccer.
Yes, my fitness journey had begun and oh, was it a roller coaster ride. A Hawaiian roller coaster ride, that is.
The year before I began college is when I started to realize that THIS is what I wanted to do for a living. I wanted to help people experience fitness; I wanted to help them figure out how to achieve a healthy lifestyle. I wanted them to be as passionate as I was about working out and taking care of their well-being!
So here I am today. I started RattlePen Journals because I was inspired to help individuals like you realize their full potential. If you are here because you are not satisfied with your reflection, then welcome. If you are here because you've been hit with a major reality check, welcome. If you are here simply to join a community that is eager to help you, welcome.
Whatever your reason, I am ready to help you get started.
